The first ever FCERM.net Annual Assembly took place in Edinburgh on June 19th and 20th. The event welcomed practitioners from across the whole Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management sector including those from research institutions, commercial practice and from policy and government and from public sector organisations.
Edmund was the former head of the Flood Hazard Research Centre at Middlesex University. He was Chair of the Defra/Environment Agency Advisory Group on Flood and Coastal Defence Research and Development (2004/5), and is currently a member of the Defra/ Environment Agency Research Sponsoring Board. He was awarded the O.B.E. by the Queen for services to flood risk management in May 2006 and and is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research at Middlesex University.
Arthur is the Head of Water Science and Engineering Department at UNESCO-IHE Institute for Water Education, Delft, The Netherlands. Arthur has over 30 years of experience in research and development in areas of civil and maritime engineering with specialist research expertise in applications of information and communication technologies in environmental hydroscience and engineering. His career in consultancy extends over 25 years where he has worked worldwide in the field of hydrodynamics, coastal engineering, maritime structures, water resources management, environmental modelling and software systems development.
The event aimed to be inclusive and innovative promising to deliver opportuntities in networking, collaboration, knowlwege sharing, exploring gaps and addressing challenges in the sector with members of the Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management Community.
